MacArthur Moten
Attorney and Owner
MacArthur Moten is a St. Louis native with southern roots. He is an attorney with over 40 years of practice and the proud owner of MacArthur Moten P.C. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Webster College and his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University. He is also a veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War.
While in law school, MacArthur was the Editor in Chief of the International Law News Letter. He also served as a law clerk for The Honorable George I Moran, Fifth District, Appellate Court, State of Illinois, before opening his private practice. MacArthur is licensed in both in both Missouri and Illinois. His decision to become a plaintiff’s lawyer was based on his desire to help those who needed it. His motto is:
“If there is a fight, I want to get in it and choose sides; I do not want to referee.”
During his long career, Attorney MacArthur Moten has taught other lawyers about medical malpractice and worker’s compensation in continuing legal education programs. He participated in the St. Louis Board of Education Mentor Program and the Dropout Prevention Program. His interest in and concern for the community are what keep him going. His clients become family and family is important to him and the firm.
Steve D. Brooks
Attorney
Attorney Steve D. Brooks is a 1984 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and a 1988 graduate of the University of Memphis, School of Law. He entered private general practice in 1991. Throughout his practice, he has developed several sub-specialties. Attorney Brooks is a member of the Missouri Bar, the American Bar Association, and the Mound City Bar Association. He appeared before the U.S. district courts (Eastern District of Missouri, Southern District of Illinois, and Eastern District of Arkansas). Steve has worked for the firm for many decades. Attorney Brooks is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated and has retired from 30 years of service to the St. Louis archdiocese in their music ministry.
Josephine Moten
Marketing Coordinator
Josephine began as one of our legal assistants and now works as our marketing coordinator. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in medical humanities from Washington University in St. Louis. Josephine maintains our social media and online presence while updating our website, writing monthly email newsletters, and creating our marketing initiatives. Additionally, her psychology and medical background are invaluable in reviewing and analyzing our medical records, finding experts, and staying up to date with discoveries in the world of psychology.
Rene Kina
Law Student Legal Assistant
Rene Kina is a third-year law student at Saint Louis University (SLU) with a double major in Black Studies and Political Science from Washington University in Saint Louis. He is the current regional president of the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) and possesses a strong background in organizing activism efforts. Rene plans to begin his legal career immediately after law school as a trial lawyer. He conducts vital legal research and aids in depositions, preparation of witnesses, and filing necessary legal documents.

Legal Assistant
MacArthur is also one of our legal assistants. He is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in philosophy with a minor in graphic design on a pre-law track. As a legal assistant, he ensures that all the office proceedings, scheduling, meetings, and presentations run smoothly; both online and in person. Additionally, MacArthur conducts research, talks with clients and businesses, and creates presentations.
Takako Moten
Co-Founder
Takako was with the firm at its inception. She established the procedures, protocols, and guidelines that we use today. Gone, but not forgotten. May she Rest In Peace.
